Position Overview: The Security and EMS Manager provides a safe physical environment for all Residents, Visitors, and Staff. The Security and EMS Manager is responsible for the Security and Emergency Services department as it relates to Life Safety, Campus Safety, Health/Fire Protection and Communication Systems Control.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Manages the HFV Campus Security staff and assists with areas of responsibility as needed
  2. Provides leadership coaching and professional development for all direct reports
  3. Develops and implements internal controls to ensure Security staff compliance with Campus orders, competency tasks, and assigned duties
  4. Creates, modifies, and updates policies, procedures, standards and guidelines for Security Operations and serves in a consultative and policy-setting role as related to the implementation and management of administrative solutions
  5. Assist the Director in developing, tracking and analyzing quality control measures and data to ensure that the Security Department delivers quality service in an efficient manner
  6. Assist the Director in ensuring that the department under his or her leadership meets financial and general reporting goals and deadlines
  7. Periodic surveys and audits of facilities and grounds to ensure compliance with safety, federal and state requirements.
  8. Maintains continuous survey readiness through compliance with regulations from several regulatory agencies, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and all other Life Safety functions
  9. Works collaboratively with various community organizations to ensure effective emergency preparedness and response in the development, implementation and maintenance of county-wide plans for multiple responses to natural, man-made, technological, terrorist, hazardous materials, and security events and/or disasters
  10. Collection, analysis, and identification of the causes and trends of safety and emergency service related losses of company resources and assets. Ensures key performance metrics, including HFV staff occupational injury/illness and environmental sustainability results are accurately reported and communicated
  11. Direction and coordination of investigation of alleged or apparent criminal activity.
  12. Training and education programs and materials related to our Safety/Emergency Services/Life Safety program.
  13. Participates and Co- Chairs Safety/Security related Committees, and functions as department liaison
  14. Makes decisions and provides direction to HFV Campus Security Services staff; including scheduling, evaluations, performance management, training, authorizes overtime, completes payroll, responds to complaints, and other managerial functions
  15. Functions as a mentor for Security Shift Leader(s) and staff. Conducts scheduled meetings designed to promote open dialog and assist the Leaders/Officers in growing their skill sets

Must be self-directed, and able to work productively on multiple initiatives simultaneously. Must have sound judgment, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and not be afraid of rolling up the sleeves to deliver practical solutions.  Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.  Must be creative in developing cost-effective, sensible solutions that deliver results.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in related field strongly preferred (i.e. Criminal Justice, Security Management, Emergency Management, etc).  Professional Healthcare Experience or Industry Certification in lieu of degree may be considered. A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Healthcare Safety and Security related fields is required.  Prior EMT or MFR certification is strongly preferred.

 Supervisory Responsibilities:  Security and EMS Staff

Language Skills: Ability to read, write and speak proficiently in English.

 License, Certificates, Registration:  EMT or MFR certification preferred
